Biography
Dr. Stephenson's current emphasis is Integrative Holistic Medicine which is the art and science of healing that addressed the whole person-body, mind, and spirit. She focuses on the individual, unique needs of each patient and she sees the woman who has an illness rather than as an illness that has a woman. Her practice integrates conventional and complementary/alternative therapies in guiding patients to optimal health, vitality and wellness. Dr. Stephenson is dedicated to providing innovative and creative approaches to assist women in achieving their goals for health and beauty through a unique blend of nature based therapies. She is excited to offer exceptional programs and modalities to bring her patients to a better state of health.
Dr. Kenna Stephenson graduated cum laude from The University of Texas where she was named a College Scholar. She received her MD with Research Honors from Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Medicine. As a medical student, she was selected for a Medical Student Clinical Research Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health. Dr. Stephenson completed her residency in Family Medicine with the University of Texas Health Science Center at Tyler, and was the first recipient of the Resident's Resident Award for compassion, teaching and caring. A Fellow in the American Academy of Family Physicians, she is board certified in Family Medicine. Her lengthy academic career includes clinical research and publications on women's health, cardiovascular pharmacology, aging, prevention, and holistic medicine. Her professional career has encompassed: total family care including obstetrics and end of life care; instruction of colleagues, residents, and medical students; medical missions; employee health; and physician consultant to Paramount Pictures and Fox Television. She appears as the health expert for the local CBS television affiliate, KYTX, in Eye on Health. Her professional memberships include: American Heart Association Council on Arteriosclerosis, Thrombosis and Vascular Biology; Council on Epidemiology and Prevention; Council on Nutrition, Physical Activity & Metabolism; International Atherosclerotic Society; American Psychosomatic Medicine Society; American Botanical Council; Texas Academy of Family Physicians; American Academy of Family Physicians; Texas Medical Association; Smith County Medical Society.
